I met Jane on the award winning wukalina cultural walk  in NE Tasmania, where we had four days to listen to cultural stories and learn about Country.

We also had time to share a little of our own lives and I discovered she collaborates on art/science projects in habitat and threatened species support in clay. One of her projects includes working with little penguin ecologists in both Tasmania and South Australia to design ceramic nesting burrows.

This work is part of science research, but she's also linking species support to philanthropy.

I loved her concept of philanthropically ‘gifting into habitat’.

Little penguins are charismatic birds.  Along with short-tailed shearwaters and Cape Barren geese, they are part of the supporting cast  in Beneath the Wild Fig Tree.

For this reason it was an easy and exciting decision to back this innovative little penguin (Eudyptula minor) habitat support project, by contributing one of

Jane's ceramic burrows for a pair of little penguins living on Tasmania's north west coast, where it will join other ceramic burrow to support the nesting activities of little penguins.

It will also contribute to research, informing design for the best possible artificial nesting habitat for little penguins.
